As usual, my friends in Santa Clara have kept me posted on the news from Cuba. Here’s what Gabriel wrote this week (Nov. 13, 2017) about the readiness of the resorts on Cuba’s northern coast after the September hurricane damage:
I think that the first flights with tourists from Canada to the beaches in the northern keys arrived early last week. And I think that the number of tourists who have visited Cuba this year reached 4 million last Friday — 45 days earlier than last year. I have 3 cousins with jobs in the keys and they are already working. The hotels in Varadero and the Northern Keys that were damaged by hurricane Irma are already open.
